Carrying Out Our Mission

American-Italian Cancer Foundation

American-Italian Cancer FoundationThe American-Italian Cancer Foundation supports cancer research, education, and early detection, emphasizing the unique resources of Italy and the United States, recognizing world-class scientific excellence in medicine, and serving the economically disadvantaged and medically underserved in New York City through cancer screening, outreach, and education.

Women 40 and over must not forego their annual mammograms because early detection is key to survival.  It is particularly important that women get into the habit of receiving a mammogram each year, beginning at age 40.

In this dismal economic climate where women in New York City are losing their jobs and, consequently, their health insurance, AICF’s program is more important than ever.  We make it as convenient as possible for these women to get their mammograms, too, because we reach them in their communities, and we reach the NYC communities that are most in need of our services.  For 17.5 percent of the women assisted through AICF’s Mobile Mammography Program this past year, the mammogram they received was their first.

“We greatly appreciate NBCF's ongoing generosity on behalf of economically disadvantaged and medically underserved women in New York City.”
