Carrying Out Our Mission

MAYO CLINIC

Mayo Clinic

In 1919, the founding Mayo brothers dissolved their partnership and turned over the clinic's name and assets to a private, not-for-profit, charitable foundation. They dictated that any earnings from the practice, beyond those needed to operate the clinic, should be used for medical education and research. That has been the case ever since at each of the clinic's locations in Rochester, MN; Jacksonville, FL; and Scottsdale, AZ.

Interesting Fact: Because of our support of breast cancer, NBCF has been named as a Major Benefactor of Mayo. This distinguished honor brings with it an invitation to be recognized in the Hall of Benefactors, an area featured on public and VIP tours of the campus to send a message that philanthropic support is vital to Mayo's future.

“Your generous donation will support activities in Mayo Clinic Rochester, under the guidance of Dr. Sandhya Pruthi. Dr. Pruthi will oversee a new program, in coordination with the Hawthorne Education Center, that will provide numerous services, including outreach education and clinical breast exams in the community. Dr Pruthi and her colleagues believe their direct participation in the community will increase access in provision and preventive breast health services for underserved women.”
