Courage is a Step Away
Life Brings Unexpected Turns
A slight young woman stood in front of me with her blond-streaked hair swaying back and forth as she talked. She was energy in motion. Her hope-filled eyes drew my full attention as she related her story. She was working for the weekend as a referee at the World Championship Bunco Tournament in Las Vegas benefiting the National Breast Cancer Foundation. She was so young, only 22, yet she faced a heavy burden.
Courage Steps Forward
This young woman had a depth of understanding about life that transcended her words. Her actions told the story. I was stunned as she said, “I have a 3-year-old daughter and live for her. My job this weekend is to referee at the tournament. I want to donate all of my salary this weekend to the National Breast Cancer Foundation because I believe in it so much.”
She related her story about how her grandmother and mother had battled breast cancer, and now her doctor was certain that the mass in her breast was malignant, too. She was going to the doctor for further testing next week. Many women in her situation would panic, but she was undaunted. It doesn’t make sense for a young mother facing potentially large medical expenses to give away a whole paycheck to help others. But, courage isn’t always about going the safe route. It’s about shouting out to the world, “I’m not a victim.”
Isn’t that the definition of courage, to not only survive, but thrive?

Courage does not become an attribute until one takes action steps toward hope.

Cancer is a very complicated illness. Many people have died because of this problem. Our science and our medicines have developed some medicines which allow to control this illness in a good way if the patient doesn’t have the sickness in a very advanced stage.
When a tumour appears in any part of the body, you must go to your doctor because this is not normal. They ocassionally appears and dissapears and many people think that it’s all right because the tumour has dissapeared. No, this is not a good signal. Besides, there are some other symptoms such as: anaemia, lack of appetite, constant pain in some parts of the body, etc.
Nowadays, there are many things producing cancer and every one of us needs to take care of anything: foods, drinks, home articles, clean products, etc.
