Colgate-Palmolive Teams with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to Fund Free Mammograms for Women in Need

-The "String of Life®" Campaign Reminds Women That "Love Does Come With Strings Attached®"-

New York, NY (September 17, 2007) - According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, nearly 200,000 women in the U.S. alone will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Early detection is key to maximizing chances for survival. Most women know that a mammogram is one of the best early detection methods, yet millions of women have never had a mammogram.

With this in mind, Colgate-Palmolive has teamed up with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to fund breast cancer initiatives in communities in need, in an effort to offer access to breast cancer education and free mammograms for women as part of a new String of Life campaign. The campaign was conceived as a reminder that "love does come with strings attached", urging women to get yearly mammograms and to actively tell other women to get screened.

Teaming up with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Colgate will help bring the message of the String of Life campaign nationally and to communities served by partnering hospitals: University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center - Houston, TX; The Cleveland Clinic Foundation - Cleveland, OH; University of California San Francisco/Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center - San Francisco, CA and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins - Baltimore, MD. The String of Life campaign will kick off on September 17 with local community events and with a national website, www.caringmakesadifference.com, where women can find more information on the campaign and how to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

"We're proud to support the important mission of the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help women in underserved communities gain access to mammograms," said Suzan Harrison, Vice President of Marketing, Colgate-Palmolive. "If we all contribute in our own way to educate women about breast cancer, we can make a difference. We truly hope people will join all of us at Colgate and share the String of Life campaign with the women in their lives."

Spreading the String of Life Message

Starting September 17, consumers nationwide can log onto www.caringmakesadifference.com to send a String of Life e-card to their friends and loved ones to remind them to get their yearly mammogram. In addition, consumers can make a donation towards providing free mammograms to women in need by accessing a direct link to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

"The partnership forged between Colgate-Palmolive and the National Breast Cancer Foundation will help create awareness that getting a mammogram is a basic need that should be available to all women," said Janelle Hail, President and CEO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. "We are thankful to Colgate for their support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation's String of Life program to raise awareness and for helping to increase the number of women that will have access to mammograms."
