I am 37 years old and diagnosed in March. I go for my first chemo in a week. Family and friends have been very helpful. I am just worried about loosing my hair. How long is it before it start coming out.
They told me 2 weeks from the 1st treatment, and they were right now. I had fairly short hair to start with and have my beautician cut it very short for my wig which I wore to work/church - hats the rest of the time. I wish I could say losing your hair is not the biggest thing to worry about, but for me, it was devasating. I would not have considered myself a vain person, but it was really hard. Do what is most comfortable to you, wigs, hats etc - and know that with time, that will pass as well - it does grow back. My last chemo was 10-24-07 and I still really didn't have much at Christmas but now starting to come back enough that I actual look like I have a hairdo - darker, grayer and waveyer than what I normally have - best to you - LoriThey told me 2 weeks from the 1st treatment, and they were right now. I am on Adriamycin and Cytoxen. My hair started coming out right after my 2nd treatment. This has been the hardest part for me so far. I'm wearing a scarf with a baseball cap. My thoughts are with you.I am on Adriamycin and Cytoxen. My hair started coming out right after my 2nd treatment. This has been the hardest part for me so far.
