CT X 4 plus herceptin for 1 yr

by irishbrae on 7/8/2008 at 10:08 amin category Treatment
anyone had this treatment? how bad was it. Did you keep a port for the year of herceptin? I had my first round of CT yesterday and actually feel very good today. I managed to escape the acute nausea completely, now I'm just waiting to see which side effect hits first. From what i've seen on the net it seems that 4 or 5 days into it is when most people feel really bad. Can anyone verify or dispute this from experience? I'm trying to decide if I can work some during this process when school starts back in late August. (I am a teacher).I guess time will tell. I'd love to hear from anyone who did try to work and how it went.

"the two most futile emotions are fear of what might happen and quilt over what has happened and can't be undone. Live for today and treat each day as a gift, an opportunity and an adventure!" I saw a quote similar to this (can't remember it exactly or who said it) and I thought it was really cool.

I had 4 rounds of Adriamycin and Cytoxen and now I'm doing 12 of Taxol and Herceptin. The Herceptin, of course will continue on for a year. I am a graphic designer and have worked the entire time except for treatment times. I have done really well. Of course, I'm sitting in front of a computer all day long. I would think a teacher wouldn't get to sit that much. ??? I have found that staying in my normal routine has been a good thing for me. What does your doctor say about working? Good luck with your treatments!
