My mother Jackie Dodson was a cancer survivor. She had breast cancer twice in the same breast. After enduring a mastectomy and chemo, she died after having reconstructive surgery. That was eight years ago. Oct. 03, 1999. And I still get emotional when I think about it. It took years after my mother died for me to get the courage to check my breasts for lumps. So far so good. I also have a daughter a beautiful four year old. Both of her grandmothers have battled breast cancer.I worry about what the future holds for her. So I join this fight for my mom, my daughter, myself and for all of my beautiful sisters and their families who have been affected by breast cancer. I want to help in any way. I have started getting volunteers for meal donations for women that are going through chemo, transportation to and from appointments ,child care , cleaning services. Or if someone just needs their hand held during a treatment. I hope to one day be able to start a non-profit org. This is my calling
