HANG ON, LULU

by xander on 12/23/2007 at 7:10 am in Supporters - Friends & Family
On December 11-13, 2007, steve and i flew to san antonio, texas to visit our friend, lulu, who was diagnosed of breast cancer, and still undergoing chemo. monette, her best friend went ahead of us and we had such a good time. We spent the days only inside Lulu's new, huge house; intentionally did not go anywhere else but home to savor the times we missed. how great it was to visit her and see her laugh aloud to our stories about old times; how heartening it was to see her sing the karaoke and see her dance to the tunes while singing. we had fun taking pictures and video while lulu read one of my poems and read her name and monette's when they are not in the dedication portion. how she laughed that moment - priceless laughter.

this poem i made specially for her... lulu.

HANG ON, LULU

Let me tell you a story
About a friend who's so lovely
Her maiden name is Lourdes Sugui
And she married a handsome navy (Capt Dennis Wright).

She loves travelling, malling, shopping
Wherever she goes, she buys something
Her friends abound, always remembering
She's always around should one needs anything.

Her eyes are so expressive, always smiling, never elusive
Her voice, oh my! a lullaby that when she sings you want to cry
She's very optimistic, never was she pessimistic
Whenever she is around, everyone's days becomes classic.

Monette Gaduang (Mendoza) is her best friend
Their true friendship never will end
Wherever they are they sure connect
And humbly promised each not to forget.

Who else could be as beautiful as her
As days pass by the more she's lovelier
She said she looked older but no one believed her
For beauty may fade but not good character.

One day i heard a bitter news
Lulu got sick, friends were confused
We flew to see her to her surprise
And spent each moment in paradise.

Who would forget the times we shared
The laughter, hugs, and songs we aired
Our memories together will linger in memory
She'll always be remembered wherever we may be.

Hang on, Lulu, hang on, Lulu
With God's blessings, you'll make it through
Life must go on, yes! it is true
Hang on, Lulu, we'll be with you.

Lulu,
Steve and I hope to be back in san antonio soon and let's have more time together, with monette and other friends from different parts of the glove. Or we may probably be in San Francisco... okey???

Cheer up, as always. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO COME. YOU ARE ALWAYS IN OUR MINDS SO TAKE CARE AS WE CARE.

We pray that your chemo session by January 2008 would be the last and that you are completely on your way to full recovery. God knows what's best for you and we know you put HIM first always, so keep believing you'll be healed.

What a nice tribute to your friend! Supporters make the treatment time go so much faster with their cheerleading and friendship. I have a girlfriend who has gone through this time with me also. Even if she is busy with her own life, makes sure she phones me before and after my chemo just to send her support.
Happy Holidays ....Cathie
