I had my mastectomy on the left almost 3 weeks ago. I have been through chem with not much trouble but the recovery from this surgery is not going so well. Really wish I knew what is normal and what is not. Went to my surgon 5 days ago to get the drain and staples out. He said all looks really good. I am just very umcomfortable. Things are swollen, sore, and tender all the time. The area at the middle of the chest is swollen and much of the chest is tight and hard. The area under the arm is very sore and tender. Will this ever go away. They did remove 14 lymph nodes also. Am very much struggling with this and could use some answers and reassurance.

Cindie ( 3yr survivor)Hon..You just had major surgery. You will be sore for a bit. Since they took nodes out, your arm will be sore. They should have given you excerises to do to loosen up or stretch that side. Did they give you any pain pills? You needn't be uncomfortable. Always tell your team how you feel, they can help!
