My Dx is DCIS in right breast, Stage 0, tumor grade 2 (out of 3), 1.0 to 1.5cm. Path report shows DCIS present at excision margins, so I'm going in for re-excision on 4/8/08. No mention on the path report about receptor status or HER-2!?!? After the original surgery, I had an MRI, and my surgeon assures me there is no node involvement and no cancer on the left. He also says I won't need chemo, but I will need radiation. Questions for any of you who have DCIS: (1) Shouldn't my path report show receptor status? (2) Is HER-2 a standard test, which should show on the path report, or is it a separate "genetic" test? (3) What was your DCIS Dx like, what course of treatment was recommended, and what did you choose to do? I'm petrified that this next surgery won't come out with clear margins...or that there will be other surprises in store for me. This DCIS was already a surprise since the needle biopsy showed benign fibro adenoma. Thanks. Prayers for all...

Good luck in your treatment . Your oncologist will help you make the right decisions.
Love and support...I was dx 7/07 Dcis, lumpectomy went back for re-excision and got clear margins no node involvement. I was thrilled I didn't have to go back a third time! I am her2+ which I found out threw a seperate test. I think it was called Fish test or something. I found out after my second surgery. I had a very small tumor .08. I went through chemo and 7 weeks of rads and now tamoxifen, and 1 year of herception for the her2+.
