I had a duct removed. You can go on living and try not to foces so much time thinking about the what if's... I know it is easyer said then done. But that is the best thing I can say to do. And why does it take a week to come back? Good luck and you will be in my thoughts and prays.

Hi, Kristan.
I haven't had a duct removed, but I've had 2 surgeries...the first to remove a mass and a second to try to clear the margins (unfortunately, that didn't happen). But, from my experience, the surgeries and recoveries were a piece of cake. I got pretty sore about a week afterward because of fluid build-up, but it was nothing unbearable and the pain meds they prescribed or Tylenol (on the easier days) helped, and it eventually gets better. Since you asked about passing the time, for me, I was almosed "excited" in the days leading up to the surgeries because I felt like I was finally moving forward and some action was being taken. The first few days afterwards, I still felt good, probably because I was relieved that the surgeries went smoothly. But, yeah, the last couple of days before the follow-up appointments were really, really tough mentally...including a very nervous stomach!...just worrying about what the results possibly could be. I'm only sharing this so if you have the same experience, you'll know you're not alone. I'm not normally an anxious person, but the waiting and not knowing part of this whole experience has been the hardest part. Good luck to you. I'm sure you'll do great. For those anxious moments when there really isn't anything you can "do", just keep prayin' and know that others are doing the same for you. It does help!
