Is It normal to have pain in the area where the cancer lumps are located in the breast?? Ive been having needle stabbing pain in the area where my lumps are located.. It feels like im having a tattoo in the area... for the first time i was in such pain that i had to lay on my stomach and put pressure on my breast with my pillow.. Is this normal or should i be worried and contact my surgeon?

I have had those stabbing pains for a long time, I had a mastectomy in Sept, 2002, I was told by my physician that these are nerves trying to reconnect. I certainly would suggest you speak with our physician to ease your concerns. I do not worry about the cancer I have had and particularly do not like being referred to as a survivor. A survivor has been a victim... and I have never been a victim of cancer. If I worried all the time about the negative possiblities of cancer, I would never enjoy the beautiful day God gives me each morning. Cancer.. without worry = living

Besire,
I had pain near my lump that ran under my arm. I also had to lay on my stomach and I HATE laying that way, hahahah, yes it was sparatic and some times really intense. After surgery it went away. I think mine became more intense cuz I knew I had BC. If it gives you a peace of mind ALWAYS call your doctor(s). I have phathom pains every once in awhile. they have become fainter the longer away from surgery.
soothing hugs and good thoughts going your way.
