Hello Everyone. I am registered nurse in Breast Medical oncology. I have worked with breast cancer patients for over two years now. I am happy to help anyone with some questions or those of you needing advice regarding your diagnosis.

I am also a new mother ---so between working and taking care of my little one, I will try to make extra time for all of you.

Looking forward to your questions!
Alice

I have a feeling I will be checking back with you once I have seen an oncologist. It is so generous of you to want to share your expertise in this field. Thanks. Enjoy your new baby, you cannot believe how quick our children grow up.

Hi Alice, Thanks so much for the website info. I had a lumpectomy last month but they didn't get a wide enough margin. So, more surgery on Monday. The big wait has been for the Oncodx number. The surgeon wanted to put a port in at the same time as my surgery if I needed it. My Onc phoned yesterday to say Congratulations you are a 17 and will not needChemo. and said if I wanted to read more then check it out on the web and I am a candidate for the Tailor Study but he didn't recommend it since I could end up with chemo with them. I just noticed that Kris (who wrote you) is only doing Tamox. My Dr. has ordered Rad then Tamox. I had a PETCT last week and it came back good. He said he would repeat PET yearly. I guess my concerns came after reading the Tailor Study that takes me from low up to borderline. So many options....I'm ER/PR+ HER- nodes- Should I keep studying or just except my docs advice and get on with life? THis is the first time I ever spoke to someone on the internet like this.....Hope it goes through...Keep Smiling, Jamie

Alice...Thanks so much for you comments. I saw the Med. Onc. doc today and got my script for Tamoxifen. I feel OK w/the tx plan, but still wish it would have not taken 91 days to get there. After my one and only post I did some more research and found that I was using the clinical study numbers for evaluating my RS. I now know that the docs use a different scoring scale, which put me in the lowest group.

Where you work, what kind of education/support is available to people who are in my boat..Stage 1, neg nodes, 1.5x1.1x1 size, ER+, HER2 -, no chemo and interstitial radiation..all tx completed within 80 days. With such compact treatment there is really no time to develop relationships with any of the Oncology staff. I felt like the Lone Ranger during the entire process and now I am done. Because I work as an RN (PICU) in the same system that I received tx I was able to figure out what needed to be done, but I worry about those people who have no medical background or who are elderly, etc. Just curious what other institutions do. Thanks again for your input and congrats on your baby...Enjoy! Kris

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT, YOU ARE AN ANGEL! My mom has been battling this for 8 months now and it has been a roller coaster to say the least. She is currently going through the second phase of chemo which consist of Taxol IV only and they said it was going to get better side effects wise but after her first treatment last week this is the worst I have seen her. What has been the general experience you haev seen with Taxol in women?? If you get a chance, please let me know anything you think may help get her through the next three treatments. THANKS AGAIN for your support!
