I'm starting A/C chemo on Wednesday. Being the chicken that I am, I have to admit it scares me silly. What have others found their reactions to this therapy been? How have hey handled the side effects? What am I in for? Help!
Hi! I have had chemo 2x but, what does the a/c mean? I know how serious this is, but how come EVERYTHING falls out & i still had to shave?lol! I guessed God has a sense of humor!Hi! I had A/C chemo for 2 months (ever other week) and Taxol for two months (every other week). I am happy to say I have finish my chemo last month and just had my lumpectomy on Monday. The obvious reaction to the A/C chemo is the hairloss which started happening to me the day before my second chemo treatment. I was also very tired, and got progressively more tired with each treatment...that was the hardest part for me since I wanted to do the things I normally do, but my body was not able. I also experienced some constipation from the other medications I was given (anti-nausea & steroids). I did get nauseous as well, but once I took my anti-nausea pills it went away. I never vomitted or got sick, thankfully. Unfortunately the A/C is not fun, but you will get through it and be stronger for it. I wish you good luck during your treatments. If I can offer you any more information based on my personal experience, please let me know!I had A/C chemo for 2 months (ever other week) and Taxol for two months (every other week). Hi Betsy, I would like to direct you to a very valuable resource that will help you get some of your questions answered. NBCF has created videos explaining breast cancer anatomy, diagnosis, treatment, and side effects. Chapter 7 is about Chemotherapy.

My mom started chemo one week ago today. We were in the hospital for over 6 hours and they said it would be that way every time she goes in which is once every three weeks. She is on TAC which is supposed to be very powerful. She is feeling very tired, and just yesterday, she told me that nothing tasted right in her mouth, not even water. She said she feels like her cancer is changing but cannot be specific about what she feels. So far, she has had no nausea, and she still has her hair, although we are watching it like freaks waiting for the first sign of it to fall out! Good luck, try to relax, and just be prepared for everything and anything. It will probably go smoother than you think.
