Dancing in the Rain

by Decaturjulie on 9/8/2007 at 7:55 amin category Inspirational
My Aunt who was just diagnosed with lymphoma sent this to me this week and I thought you all might enjoy it. Be well.
Attitude
There once was a woman who woke up one
morning, looked in the mirror,
and noticed she had only three hairs on
her head.
Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my
hair today?"
So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror
and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
"H-M-M," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the
middle today?"
So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed that
she had only one hair on her head.
"Well," she said, "today I'm going to wear my hair in a
pony tail."
So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed that
there wasn't a single hair on her head.
"YEA!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"

Attitude is everything.

Be kinder than necessary,
for everyone you meet is fighting some
kind of battle.
Live simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly.......
Leave the rest to God
Life isn't about waiting for the storm
to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain

I have been searching for years for the author of "Attitude Is Everything" -- the poem that your aunt sent to you. I am an author and would like to use the poem in a book, but I won't until I can find the person who holds the copyright to this poem. It has been all over the internet for years, and claimed by hundreds of authors! (Common sense says only one person could have written it, right? ha!) DO YOU, OR DOES YOUR AUNT KNOW WHO WROTE THE POEM? If so, please contact me at April@gods-girl.com Thanks!

Well I do not have cancer . or any one in my family... was surfing and came on this site through my credit card site... I mean my grandfather whom I loved very much had cancer of the throught/ mouth /and stomach he passed away..... It broke my heart ....but anyways.... I first was drawn to your storie buy the name of it ... I thought it was pretty ..... and then as I started to read your storie....It made me smile but at the same time I felt this pain in my heart for your aunt and all around her..... I think it is great to have such a fun outlook on life through the most rough times of our lives..... it is inspirational for me ....and I really don't know what's wrong with me right now I am working quietly .... and my heart is so touched .. that I will forward this poem to all the I know....May God bless you and I love your aunts....attitude.....

What a beautiful poem. Your aunt definitely has the right perspective. You and your aunt might like a new book that's coming out on Sept 21 at www.amazon.com called Soraya: A Lifetime of Love, A Legacy of Hope. Soraya was a Latina singer-songwriter who was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer at 31. The book shares her story -- she knew how to get the most out of every single day of her life -- and attitude is DEFINITELY key! Good luck to your aunt.
