About Me

Lindsey Allison Adams is a 20 year old, professional race car driver, working to raise awareness for breast cancer. When Lindsey first began racing, the only thing that she noticed, or even cared about, was the driving. In 2005 she won her first National Championship in the KART National Triad. At this time Lindsey began her own personal battle. Her mother, Debbie, a breast cancer survivor, had a second bad mammogram in two years and had decided to move forward with a complete second mastectomy. As she watched her mother’s courage in making decisions that would change her life, and hopefully extend it, Lindsey began to think about what she could do to make a difference in this fight against cancer. It didn’t take very long for her to commit to raising awareness for this disease. Lindsey began racing for early detection, early reaction, and along the way, hopefully be part of those that celebrate finding a cure. For Lindsey, Racing for the Cause has so many parallels with surviving in life. There is always the desire to win, even though many times we aren’t given much time to make quick decisions, sometimes we don’t have many choices, or the odds can be stacked against us. But always we have to face the unknown, the unexpected, yet if we don’t give up, we stay in the race, and we survive. If the race is really about time and that is all we have along with our faith, then we had better make it count.

“Now I have found that those that I set out to help have made me stronger. I am never alone when I race. I take some really brave soldiers with me.” –Lindsey (August 2007)

In the early months of 2007 Lindsey and her mother, Debbie, began a program, Survivors’ Circle. Survivors’ Circle is a celebration about women surviving breast cancer. It is an opportunity to tell the story of an individual in the city in which Lindsey is racing or, in the case of a sponsored survivor, have her name on Lindsey’s race car and have her story on Lindsey’s web site. A woman becomes a survivor starting the day after she has been diagnosed, and so her story begins. Women have been so giving in sharing their own personal walk in the hopes of helping others. There is much wisdom to be gained in reading their stories and sharing them with your friends and family.

“I feel very blessed to be in the position that I am in,” Lindsey commented, “I have an amazing family who support me unconditionally, I have found a remarkable foundation that I can do my absolute best to make a difference for, but most of all, I am given the opportunity to form relationships with some of the strongest women in this world. Survivors’ Circle has given meaning to my racing. I love racing, it is my life, but if I can do something to make a difference… that is what is most important.”
