Hi everyone,
Its a great day and I'm glad I found this place,
I am starting a process that I am unsure of, I had a mammogram, and during the mammogram the tech kept coming back and taking new shots of my left breast,
(9 times), not saying anything at all, then I was taken to have an unltrasound, the doctor did that one and said that I had inflammation and to come back in 6 months.
Okay, 2 days later , my gp called me and said that he was sending me to a Dr.Fant and they would discuss my 2 cm lump. I was stunned, I went from inflammation to a lump. After doing some research I found out that Dr Fant is an oncologist/surgeon.
Then I receive 2 more letters from the radiology group saying be sure to see a Dr,
to resolve the stabilty of my mammorgram.
Is this normal?
Should I worry?

I just found out I had cancer 8 days ago - I understand how you feel - I didn't understand why the tech kept taking pictures either - fortunately I went to a wonderful place and the radiologist was very good - I had the mammogram, then an ultrasound then a biopsy, all in 1 week - you need the biopsy to know what you are dealing with - right now, just take 1 step at a time - if it is cancer then you will deal with it in your own way - don't panic - just research and remember, you have to be your own health care advocate - the days when your family doctor took over and guided you through every step are gone - you are going to need to be strong and to take charge of your own care - this is an excellent site and I am happy I found it - so remember you are not alone -

They send the letter to make sure it is out of there hands. So if you do not go to the Dr and it is anything you can not go back and say they never told you. But till you see the dr and they tell you what who when and so on.... You have to follow thur. Good luck and things will work out. Keep us all up to date.

Have you had your biopsy yet? Or is that the surgical procedure you are speaking abot? What has been working best for me is to only think about the next step. Do not get ahead of yourself. If you have not had your biopsy yet then remember there is nothing to worry about yet. It may not be cancer. Don't read a bunch of stuff that makes you anxious. Just live in the moment. Keep me posted. Jamie

I am glad you found this site too. It is very helpful. It soulds like your group of doctors are all working together and that is a good thing. When do you see Dr. Fant? Hang in there, it may just all be ok. It is normal to worry and "WHAT IF" your self to death during the "waiting" period. Just try to get as much info as you can. The waiting and not knowing is the hardest part. Prayers to you....keep us posted. BJ
