It was introduced to Congress in January, but I have not been able to find any information about the current status.

Here is the information from my email:
"There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require Insurance Companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through mastectomy' where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached. I guess you could call me the "MyNBCF Moderator" but I really do more than that. I have coordinated the website strategy, design & development for NBCF since last October. My role here is to make sure everything is working properly and to make MyNBCF the best it can be.

I do not know anyone close to me who has struggled with breast cancer per se, but my uncle passed of colon cancer and I know the extent of hardship and sadness that one feels for a loved one having to go through it all. He tried so hard to defeat it. He was a shell of a man when it all ended. I could not even recognize him.

This is why I support NBCF so much for their cause - to increase awareness & early detection. These things are so important for recovery. We are hoping that MyNBCF will become a hub of awareness & early detection, as well as a place for breast cancer patients, survivors, and supporters to find hope and support.

Feel free to message me with any feedback or bugs you find. I check my messages every day and will respond back quickly! Also, be on the lookout for GirlAboutWorld. She is our User Acceptance person and will be working on making your experience here more interactive and user friendly.
