Hi ladies...Just a reminder to self exam. From my own experience I know this is important. At age 39 I discovered a lump in my breast while showering after my daily run. I went to the doctor who ordered a mammogram. I had had one the previous year due to cystic and dense breasts. My mammogram came back "clean and negative" The radiologist told me to come back in a year. I would have probably died had I taken his advice. My doctor couldn't believe the report as he felt the lump himself. He sent me for an ultrasound and when that was inconclusive he ordered a biopsy. Sure enough the pathology on the biopsy was proof of the aggressive type of cancer. A fast growing hormone negative cancer was discovered. I was stunned. A non smoker, I run everyday. I have no family history, I drink rarely and eat little red meat. I never in a million years thought it would turn out to be cancer. And at the age of 39. Two surgeries, a whole year of chemotherapy and three months of radiation later I am cancer free. That was 14 years ago.....yippee.... I feel fortunate to have found it myself. I also am so lucky to have a doctor who would not take no for an answer. He demanded more for me and it paid off. I am sorry this is so long. I hope it helps someone else. PEACE

I was persistant until I finally had a biopsy. It was stage 3b invasive breast cancer. That was almost nine years ago. Keep reminding people that monthly self exams are necessary to know what is normal. And remember to keep trusting your "gut" feelings. We know our bodies best.

Now I am faced with the possibility of breast cancer. I have many many questions that are unanswered. The Breast Center refused to do a mammogram on me because I wasn't over the age of 30, but did an ultrasound, which came back "normal". So they did however suggest a ductogram.
I have had a ductogram and the test results were "somewhat normal". "Somewhat Normal" concerns me to no end. I have a long lump on the right side of my breast and have a clear discharge from the nipple. My breast seems to keep swelling, and is much larger than my left one. I am waiting to see a Breast Specialist, but needed more information. I have become very tired and exhausted in the past 3 days.. in the past 3 weeks my health has seemed to decline in a quick fashion. I was wondering if fatigue, muscle weakness, and body aches were symptoms as well. What should I expect when visiting the Breast Specialist? What questions should I ask? Should I demand a biopsy? Any help would truly be a blessing. Thank you for your support.Hello Roxie. I am a 25 year old female who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 19, and received a total hysterectomy at the age of 21 after several different treatment efforts. I have been in remission for 4 years. But like any cancer after treatment you are left with a laundry list of other medical problems. Now I am faced with the possibility of breast cancer.
