I am here because I believe that we can find a cure for breast cancer in my lifetime. But in order to do this, we must first raise awareness. It is our job to get the word out and to make people realize that this can happen to any woman, regardless of her age.

In 1997 my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer and even though I was younger and did not fully understand what breast cancer could do, I felt its impact. My aunt would stay at my house after most of her chemo sessions and I saw first hand the effects of chemo. But I also saw how she stayed strong, no matter how sick it made her. After losing her hair and having a mastectomy, my aunt is now cancer free.

You always hear the statistics about how many women are diagnosed each day with breast cancer, but we also need to be aware that more and more women are surviving. This is because of organizations like NBCF who everyday are raising breast cancer awareness and educating us about what we can do to help.

I am here to offer my support and I hope that all of you will join in on the discussions and write journals so that more people can hear your story and that more awareness will be raised.
