Fox Chase Cancer Center
Fox Chase Cancer Center was founded in 1904 as one of the nation’s first cancer hospitals. Located in northeast Philadelphia, Fox Chase is a federally designated comprehensive cancer center that pursues the full spectrum of cancer science and medicine. Today, in addition to its role as a cancer hospital and research facility, the cancer center offers programs in risk assessment and prevention, survivorship, and community outreach. One program of particular pride is the Center’s Mobile Mammography Screening Unit, the only one of its kind in the Philadelphia Area, which has been conducting screenings at no cost in the community for over 25 years.
“Our grant from the National Breast Cancer Foundation has played a key role in allowing us to continue to serve uninsured and underinsured women seeking breast health services. Using our grant to provide screening on our mobile van and also navigation services to women with abnormal findings has facilitated our ability to provide continuity of care and assure that women with abnormal findings get the follow-up services they need.”
