New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services' Cancer Education and Early Detection Program
The New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) program provides breast cancer outreach, education and screening services for women, and is committed to helping reduce its incidence, mortality, and impact in New Jersey. Free mammograms and other breast cancer screening services are provided to New Jersey residents who are income eligible and uninsured or underinsured. Program services are provided through contracted Lead Agencies which operate in all 21 New Jersey counties.
"While our Department does receive both State and Federal funding to support breast cancer screening and diagnostic procedures among underserved women in New Jersey, the amount of funding that we currently receive only allows us to reach an estimated 11% of those women who are eligible for our services. To date, the funding that you have provided through the NMP has allowed us to provide an additional 311 screening and/or diagnostic prodedures to women who may have very well gone without these important tests had it not been for your generous support."
Gloria M. Rodriguez, DSW, Assistant Commissioner
