Comprehensive Breast Care Center: University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center

At the Markey Cancer Center’s Comprehensive Breast Care Center, patients are evaluated by a team of specialists who provide timely and accurate health care from evaluation and diagnosis to treatment planning.  The Center has earned a three-year/full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, and was recently named a Breast Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.  Patients at the facility are also offered services provided by the patient navigator program.  Navigators help guide patients and their families through the complexities of the health care system.  Funding from the National Breast Cancer Foundation currently supports a navigator specially trained to assist uninsured and underinsured women gain access to live-saving screenings and follow-up services for breast cancer.

"National Breast Cancer Foundation support has been amazingly helpful in opening access for increasing numbers of underserved women in Kentucky to acquire the support and services they need for early detection and timely treatment of breast cancer.  What a gift that is!"
