University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences' (UAMS) Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Breast Center offers some of the most advanced breast imaging technology available in the country, including diagnostic and screening mammograms with computer - aided detection (CAD), ductograms, and breast ultrasound. The UAMS Breast Center is an all-digital mammography center with the only dedicated breast MRI unit in central Arkansas. Funding from the National Breast Cancer Foundation makes it possible for women all across the state to benefit from UAMS’ mammography services through its mobile MammoVan program. The mobile unit is, essentially, the Breast Center “on wheels” and regularly travels to 26 Arkansas counties which lack FDA-approved mammography facilities.

"I am very happy, but not again not surprised, that to date this program has produced actual results, with many women screened and already a considerable number of cancers detected. Each one of those could have represented an unnecessary death … I will continue to be thankful every day for our supporters."

Philip J. Kenney, MD, Chair, Department of Radiology
