September 25, 2014 – HOUSTON, TX – Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q Cup for a Cause annual fundraising campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month has selected the Young Survival Coalition, National Breast Cancer Foundation and The Rose, as beneficiaries of the funds raised in October.

To highlight its month long Cup for a Cause (www.rudys.com/pinkcup) fundraising effort, Rudy’s has once again transformed its famous plastic cups into the color PINK, which are only available while supplies last. Funds are raised through dollar donations from guests at participating Rudy’s Bar-B-Q locations throughout October. Guests who donate receive a coupon for a free large drink on their next visit at Rudy’s.

The funds raised in October will be divided among the three charities based on the votes each receives on Rudy’s Facebook polling page (https://apps.facebook.com/rudys-bbq/pinkcup), which lets them vote once per day, until midnight (Central Time) of October 31st. The charity with the most votes will receive 50% of the funds raised while 2nd and 3rd place will receive 35% and 15% respectively.

“Our guests and Facebook fans have supported Rudy’s Cup for a Cause since launching it in 2012 when we changed our plastic cups for the first time in our restaurant’s history into the color pink for breast cancer awareness month,” said Pete Bassett, VP of Operations at Rudy’s Bar-B-Q. “With each Rudy’s Cup for a Cause since then, we’ve been able to provide financial support for women affected by breast cancer, veterans of our military and their families.”

This is the fifth Rudy’s Cup for a Cause, which supports breast cancer charities in October and military charities in May. Rudy’s Cup for a Cause has raised more than $400,000 since it launched in October 2012. Its most recent campaign in May of this year, Rudy’s Cup for a Cause raised more than $90,000 for the American Widow Project, Homes For Our Troops and Special Warrior Operations Foundation. The American Widow Project received 50% of the funds by getting the most votes on Rudy’s Facebook voting page. It was the first time Rudy’s Cup for a Cause partnered with more than one charity and used Facebook votes to determine division of funds.

“It was a successful effort to involve our Facebook fans with Rudy’s Cup for a Cause and a great opportunity for our charity partners to educate them on their mission. It also opened a fun, friendly and exciting competition among charities that have different missions, and yet a common goal,” said Bassett. “We’re confident our Facebook fans will support our three breast cancer charity partners, which all serve breast cancer patients and their families in various and significant ways.”
