The Red Leaf Story

Janelle Hail, founder and CEO of National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34. While recovering from a mastectomy, even simple everyday tasks served as a welcomed distraction from her fear of the unknown. One evening as she was in her kitchen washing dishes, she gazed out the window at a small tree that had lost all its leaves except one red leaf clinging as the fall winds blew. She was mesmerized with its beauty and radiance as the red leaf seemed to dance in the breeze. She moved from fear to faith when she spoke these words aloud, “I want to be like that leaf, brilliant until the end of my life.”

The red leaf is the inspiration for NBCF’s logo, depicting life, growth, and hope for the future.

RCB Donor Recognition designed, fabricated, and installed this custom donor display for the National Breast Cancer Foundation headquartered in Frisco, TX. The creation of the display was a collaboration with the NBCF staff and the team at RCB.  For more information on donor recognition, see www.rcbdonorrecognition.com
