The Engelstad Foundation R.E.D. Rose Program addresses the need in southern Nevada for quality breast cancer screenings and treatment services for those who are uninsured or underinsured. Since 1999, the program has been providing breast health screening services to all in need with a special emphasis on those who are underserved or at risk. The goal is early identification and treatment of breast cancer.
The Program works in partnership with Dignity Health – St. Rose Dominican Hospitals (St. Rose), Susan G. Komen of Nevada, the Engelstad Foundation, and the National Breast Cancer Foundation to provide free clinical breast exams, mammograms, ultrasounds, surgical consultations, and biopsies to women 40 years of age and younger who lack adequate health care coverage or the financial means to pay for services. The Program provides information and referral as well as financial assistance to clients of all ages who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The temporary financial assistance is used to help clients with utilities, rent, groceries, and transportation (in the form of gas cards).
The program has a demonstrated record of community collaboration and resource sharing to improve the health of women in our community. We recognize the importance of cultural competence in all outreach activities and services, paying special attention to service barriers such as language and citizenship.
“Funding provided by the National Breast Cancer Foundation is essential to the success of our Engelstad Foundation R.E.D. Rose Program. We know that Responsible Early Detection is critical in conquering breast cancer. Funding from the Foundation allows us to quickly connect patients to critical services, including clinical breast exams, mammograms, ultrasounds, surgical consultations and biopsies. We greatly appreciate the generosity of organizations like the National Breast Cancer Foundation, as they make it possible for us to carry on our healing mission to help those in need.” — Lawrence Barnard, Nevada Market President and President/CEO, Siena and Rose de Lima Campuses
Donations are always appreciated, but there are lots of great ways to get involved.
