Patient Navigation Patient Relief Fund

Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis can be a very frightening and overwhelming experience for the patient. They have many questions, many doctors, many appointments, and often do not know where to start. The Breast Nurse Navigator is here to provide assistance and guidance throughout the process. They help facilitate scheduling and treatment plans to ensure they occur in a timely manner. The Navigator is also a source of education, information, resources, and emotional support when the patient needs it the most.

“The National Breast Cancer Foundation grant has helped provide many resources for our patients and community. It helps fund our nurse navigator who works closely with our breast cancer patients, both recently diagnosed and those in survivorship. The navigator assists with patient appointments, financial assistance, and surgical scheduling. The grant helps to ensure a patient-centered approach and provide several community outreach programs in Flint and Genesee County.” — Dr. Ashley Richardson, Karmanos Cancer Institute-McLaren Flint
