Patient Navigation

Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis can be a very frightening and overwhelming experience for the patient. They have many questions, many doctors, many appointments and often do not know where to start. The Breast Navigator is here to provide assistance and guidance throughout the process. They help to facilitate scheduling and treatment plans to ensure they occur in a timely manner. The Navigator is also source of education, information and resources, as well as emotional support at a time when the patient needs it most.

“I am pleased to be able to serve as a Breast Nurse Navigator for McLaren Flint patients. My primary focus is on breast cancer and navigating my patients through the ins and outs, and ups and downs of their breast cancer treatment journey. I do whatever I can to ensure my patients are comforted. I hold their hand during diagnosis, help them understand and provide support throughout their treatment and cheer them on through survivorship. Whatever their journey may be, I’m honored to be able to help them navigate it.” — Penny Wilkinson, RN
