Patient Navigation

As part of the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital, the Sullivan Breast Center is dedicated to breast health and the care and treatment of breast cancer. The center offers variety of services for the prevention and early detection of breast cancer. A multidisciplinary team of breast specialists provide services including breast imaging, breast surgery, radiation oncology, pathology, medical oncology, physical therapy, navigation support services and palliative care. These specialists take an integrated approach to care and treatment that benefits the patient.

“Cancer patients face many challenges that impact them physically, psychosocially, and practically. It takes a team of dedicated health care professionals to provide safe and effective care to this population. Key to this care is the navigator, who plays a central role in coordination, ensuring timely and appropriate care for the patient and facilitating efficient collaboration among the clinic team. The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital is grateful for the generous funding from NBCF that makes it possible for us to reach more patients, from those who are newly diagnosed to patients in survivorship. COVID-19 has placed greater demands on individual patients and the whole healthcare system. Every day we see the value and impact that navigators have through education, coordination, addressing barriers and referrals to programs and services.” — Elisabeth Carrino-Tamasi, MSW, LGSWAssistant Director, Oncology and Center for Patient and Family Services, The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital
