Mammography

Women of all ages are concerned about breast cancer and nearly everyone has a friend or family member who has been affected by the disease. That’s why St. Joseph’s/Candler was the first in Savannah to offer the latest technological advantages to detect cancer at its earliest stages. We use an innovative approach including computer-aided detection (CAD), digital mammography and 3D mammography to get the best possible images of suspicious areas for more conclusive results. Our multidisciplinary staff of expertly trained physicians, nurses and technologists aid in the early detection of breast cancer through state-of-the-art mammography. We understand that a breast cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming for patients and their families. We treat each case individually with compassion and care, tailoring your treatment to your diagnosis and needs. Our dedicated, multi-disciplinary team of breast care specialists, from physicians to nutritionists, will guide you through your entire treatment process every step of the way. From the Telfair Pavilion to the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, we will work together with you to determine your best treatment plan, using the latest technology available.

“Funding for the Telfair Mammography Fund provides free mammograms and additional breast health services for patients who could not otherwise afford it. In instances of patients who have insurance , the fund also offsets the co pays which may present an obstacle. We are dependent on the generosity of individuals, community partners and organizations that provide grant monies to sustain this program. Last fiscal year, the funding provided for 459 screenings, 90 Diagnostic mammograms, 61 breast ultrasounds and other needed services.” — Vernice B. Rackett, Executive Director St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations
