FRISCO, TX – September 4, 2019 – National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and Brandon Carr are proud to announce their partnership to provide free mammograms and patient navigation services to underserved women. Brandon Carr, Baltimore Ravens cornerback and founder of Carr Cares Foundation, has pledged to give $200,000 ($12,500 per game) to help fund these programs in cities that have been like home to him in Baltimore, Dallas, and Flint.

Brandon’s mother, Kathy Gail Carr, lost her battle to breast cancer on July 30, 2014. Last spring, Brandon received the Legacy Award at NBCF’s Women of Hope Awards Luncheon in honor of his commitment to his mother’s legacy through his work to help underserved women impacted by breast cancer across the country.

At the luncheon, Brandon was moved to do more after hearing Joan Lunden, former co-host of Good Morning America and breast cancer survivor, speak about the critical need to provide mammogram funding and diagnostic testing for dense breasts for any woman who needs it regardless of financial status.

“My passion for helping women fight breast cancer stems from my experience watching my mom battle the disease for so many years”, said Brandon Carr. “My mother was my everything, she was my rock, and I know she would have wanted me to use my experience and platform to help others. There are so many women in need of these services and I am looking forward to helping as many as we can. I encourage fans and players to join me as we provide support for women in need.”

Brandon’s funding will help provide free screening & diagnostic mammograms, including 3D options for women with dense breast tissue; patient navigation services which help eliminate cost, fear, language, and transportation barriers; and retreats for patients with metastatic breast cancer. “NBCF is grateful for Brandon Carr’s support to our mission of Helping Women Now®,” said Janelle Hail, NBCF founder & CEO. “His passion and commitment to helping underserved women will enable us to continue providing life-saving services to those affected by breast cancer across the country.”
