September 25, 2014 – SCOTTSDALE, AZ – This October, more than 250 iconic P.F. Chang’s Warrior Horses will turn a shade of pink in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month during community events taking place on Tuesday, September 30 at 4:00 p.m. local time at restaurants across the country. P.F. Chang’s has teamed up with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to raise up to $100,000 in the fight against the disease. Throughout the month, anyone who posts a selfie with the pink horse(s) on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the #PaintPFChangsPink campaign hashtag or orders a sushi roll at P.F. Chang’s will generate a $1 donation toward the cause.

As one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers in women, and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths, P.F. Chang’s is proud to support the NBCF, which works to save lives by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.

“This October, P.F. Chang’s is dedicated to doing its part to support such a deserving cause through its partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation,” said Rick Federico, Chief Executive Officer of P.F. Chang’s. “As our iconic Warrior Horses are a representation of strength, painting and decorating them pink reinforces the support our entire organization has for breast cancer fighters and survivors across the country.”

How You Can Help Raise $100,000:
There are two ways for people to join in and help reach P.F. Chang’s goal of $100,000. The following actions automatically contribute $1 to the NBCF, beginning October 1 through October 31:

1) Take a selfie in front of the pink horse(s) and upload it to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #PaintPFChangsPink.

2) Purchase a Spicy Tuna Roll or California Roll at any U.S. P.F. Chang’s location.

Rally Events Across the Country on Tuesday, September 30:
In all, more than 250 P.F. Chang’s Warrior Horses will be transformed through painting and decorating efforts to pink, the official color of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, during rally events on Tuesday, September 30 at restaurants across the country. Members of the community, including P.F. Chang’s employees and guests, breast cancer survivors, local business owners, public health advocates and other members of the public are welcome to participate in kicking off the campaign. Restaurants will hand out complimentary pink sushi rolls and paint materials for all attendees. The Warrior Horses will remain pink throughout the month of October.

“We are excited to partner with P.F. Chang’s this October through their Paint P.F. Chang’s Pink promotion,” says NBCF Founder & CEO, Janelle Hail. “The funds they raise will help us provide free mammograms and early detection services for women in need in all 50 states.”

One Store’s Rally Cry Becomes Nationwide Effort:
P.F. Chang’s support for the battle against breast cancer started as a grassroots effort in April of 2013, when Operating Partner Tim Shay connected with restaurant guests at the Spokane, Washington restaurant about how breast cancer had touched their lives. Tim’s sister passed away from breast cancer in 2001.

Tim and his team decided to participate in an event to raise awareness and painted the restaurant’s Warrior Horse a rich, glittery pink to show support. Positive feedback from the community and the rally cry for the cause from employees was enormous. Other P.F. Chang’s in that region began to paint their horses pink, and this year, the company was inspired to elevate it to a nationwide effort.
