November 14, 2012 – HOUSTON, TX – Through dollar donations, a social media awareness drive, and transformation of its iconic plastic cups to the color pink, Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q raised $83,000 in October for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The Real Texas Bar-B-Q restaurant exceeded its fundraising goal of $50,000.

“We were excited at the immediate response from our guests when we kicked off the fundraising effort for breast cancer awareness month,” said Pete Bassett, VP of Operations at Rudy’s Bar-B-Q. “We are grateful to all our guests who donated a dollar for this cause. Without their continued support, we would not have been able to beat our fundraising goal.”

It was the first time Rudy’s Bar-B-Q changed the color of its famous cups to drive attention for a cause. The funds were raised through dollar donations at participating Rudy’s Bar-B-Q locations and through its Follow2Support program, the restaurant’s social media giving arm. Guests received a coupon for a free 32 oz. drink on their return visit for each dollar donated. The restaurant also added another dollar for every new Facebook “Like” and Twitter follower during the month of October. It also held PINK CUP photo contests on Instagram to raise more interest for its breast cancer awareness campaign.

“We thank Rudy’s Bar-B-Q and its loyal supporters for the generous donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation,” said Janelle Hail, Founder and CEO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. “It is businesses like Rudy’s Bar-B-Q that help our mission to save lives through early detection and mammograms to those in need.”

Rudy’s Bar-B-Q and NBCF will be holding events to celebrate its fundraising accomplishment in the coming month.
