HELENA, CA – Sutter Home Family Vineyards, a longtime champion in the fight against breast cancer, announced today the launch of its 16th annual Sutter Home for Hope campaign, which gives supporters an opportunity to join a cause that touches millions of Americans’ lives each year. The program will run through the end of 2016, with proceeds benefitting National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
The Sutter Home for Hope initiative began in 2001, when one of Sutter Home’s founding family members, Vera Trinchero Torres, was diagnosed with breast cancer. As one of America’s first wine companies to make a commitment to breast cancer research, treatment and education, Sutter Home has contributed more than $1,000,000 to the cause over the past 16 years. 2016 marks the third year of Sutter Home for Hope’s partnership with National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Throughout the four-month-long campaign, Sutter Home fans are encouraged to send in their Sutter Home bottle capsules, corks and screw caps via mail or photo text. For each item or text received, the winery will donate $1 to National Breast Cancer Foundation, up to $50,000.

According to the National Cancer Institute, an estimated 246,660 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and 40,450 people will die from the disease in 20162. This year, Sutter Home’s partnership with NBCF will focus on raising awareness about the importance of having an early detection plan. “We know more lives are saved when breast cancer is detected early, so we want to do everything we can to support NBCF’s efforts on this front,” said Nyberg.

The Sutter Home Facebook page—which has nearly 550,000 fans—and its Twitter and Instagram pages will go all-pink in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Fans will be encouraged to share messages of hope from Sutter Home’s social media sites in order to raise an additional $10,000 toward breast cancer research, treatment and education this fall.
