Oct. 1, 2012 – New York – For the first time, the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) has partnered with a breastfeeding product manufacturer – NUK USA — to support its fight against breast cancer. The NUK® brand will donate a portion of sales from its entire breastfeeding product line to NBCF beginning with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2012 and continuing through December 2013.
This partnership is a natural fit for NUK USA and NBCF. Not only is breastfeeding widely praised for the many health benefits it offers babies and mothers, it may also help women reduce their risk of developing breast cancer by 4% or more*, according to the National Cancer Institute. The NUK® brand hopes to inspire and empower mothers to breastfeed for the health of both themselves and their babies.
“We are proud to sponsor with NUK® in promoting the fight against breast cancer and supporting woman across the country,” Janelle Hail, President of NBCF, said. “Together we are helping women now by providing free mammograms, education, support, and early detection services.”
In addition, starting today, the NUK® brand is inviting breast cancer survivor Moms like Melissa Foss Zdyb to share their stories of hope on the NUK USA Facebook page in an effort to inspire other women and show they can fight breast cancer, overcome the disease and still become moms.
NUK® breastfeeding products are designed to make breastfeeding an easier and more comfortable experience for today’s Moms and support the fight against breast cancer. The product line includes:
- Breast Pumps: NUK® Expressive® Single Electric and NUK® Single Manual Breast Pumps
- Nursing Pads: NUK® Ultra Thin Nursing Pads, NUK® Ultra Dry Nursing Pads and NUK® Night Dry Nursing Pads
- Breast Milk Storage Bags: NUK® Seal n’ Go® Breast Milk Bags
- Soreness Relief & Hygiene: NUK® Nipple Shields and NUK® Breast Wipes
“This 15-month program demonstrates our commitment to this worthy cause and supports our commitment to breastfeeding as a wonderful way to nurture your baby,” Walter Lehneis, Vice President of Marketing for NUK USA, said. “Through this campaign, we hope to amplify the benefits of breastfeeding as well as help Moms succeed with simple, easy to use breastfeeding products.”
