The Breast Cancer Program at Magee-Womens Hospital is a nationally ranked program that blends innovative research, clinical expertise and individualized care to provide the most comprehensive breast cancer care to its patients. It has long been recognized as a community expert regarding breast health, and is now able to extend life-saving education and diagnostic services to underserved women in the Pittsburgh area through the Mammogram Navigator Program, funded by the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Nurse navigators teach the importance of early detection, provide breast cancer risk assessments and yearly mammograms to women in need at the Magee-Womens Hospital main clinical site, and four neighborhood clinics in Mt. Oliver, Wilkinsburg, Clairton, and Monroeville.
“The Mammography Navigator Program has significantly enhanced the access and compliance of women to be screened for breast cancer. In addition, the early detection of the disease has improved patient outcomes. We are very grateful to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for their generous grant to accomplish this.” – Leslie Davis, President
Donations are always appreciated, but there are lots of great ways to get involved.
