Mammography Patient Navigation

The American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) believes that breast cancer screening services should be available to all women regardless of their income, immigration status, primary language, or any other barriers to care. Through the Mobile, No-cost Breast Cancer Screening Program, AICF provides New York City women with no-cost mammograms and breast health education. To achieve this goal, we partner with local community-based organizations to hold breast cancer screening events. At these events, women have access to comprehensive screening services on AICF’s Mammogram Bus. Post-screening, patients who require diagnostic testing to rule out cancer are provided with patient navigation services to secure prompt testing and treatment when needed. AICF’s Mammogram Bus travels the five boroughs of New York City five days a week, all-year-round, to provide breast cancer screening services to women with limited screening access. Partnering organizations include schools, churches, or community health clinics. We go out Wednesday–Sunday to ensure we are reaching as many women as possible when it is most convenient for them -on weekdays and weekends.

“The American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) greatly appreciates the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s trust and support. AICF’s Patient Navigation Program provides comprehensive breast cancer education and navigation services ensuring that women who enter our program are provided with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their health.” — Cristina Aibino, Executive Director
